It's done. I just added the version 3.97 of the xp-AntiSpy to the downloads.
A few minor bugs got fixed, that still existed in the version 3.97 Beta 3.

Hello Everyone, there's an update available again. I still decided to keep this version in beta state.
Many thanks for many ideas from you. I do not have the time to answer them all, but I read them all! Following changes in reference to the beta 2 took place - New tweaks
- Open the device manager via 'My Computer'
- Do not offer the Windows Tour anymore
- Avoid automatic links in the network neighbourhood
- Do not cache thumbnails
- Disable the search assistant
- Disable UAC (Vista only)
- Bug fixes
- In the setting "Disable File Association Web Service" a little bug sneaked in.

Hello,
on my request to send in your favorite Tweaks I received a lot ideas. Thanks for your feedback!! The following Tweaks are now included in the Beta2: - Command line promp in the context menu
- Disable service for serial numbers of mobile media
- Disable Help and Support Service
- Disable ctfmon.exe
- Disable the Desktop Cleanup Wizard
- Dont Search Windows Update for device drivers
- Disable File Association Web Service
- Disable automatic reboot on system crashes

Hello out there,
I've been quite silent the last time. But I'm not lazy.
Right now I invest a lot of time in the successor of the xp-AntiSpy. There's nothing much to talk about it right now, because it's still not done and won't be finished in foreseeable time. It's still a hobby and I have a job to do to pay my living.
But I also keep the development of the xp-AntiSpy going. I decided to add a new category named 'Tweaks' to the xp-AntiSpy. In this category will be some settings that i prefer to set at the installation of a Windows operating system. Also I have gotten some feedback by other users of the xp-AntiSpy, which told me that they do the same and suggested me some of their favorite settings.
So, if you want to help with the further development of the xp-AntiSpy, you are invited to tell me your favorite settings that you always apply to a freshly installed system.
If they are really useful to disable some memory eating and not needed functions I'll be happy to integrate them into the xp-AntiSpy.
I added a few Tweaks to the xp-AntiSpy 3.97-Beta which you can try out.
So, if you have any good ideas, feel free to send them to me via the contact form.

Also I tested the xp-AntiSpy 3.96-8 on a freshly installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP and I did not find any errors. So you can use it also with SP3.
Recently I got a lot of mails asking me about xp-AntiSpy and Vista and as I wrote couple times before, it is compatible with this operating system (even tho the name xp-AntiSpy does not imply this).
On the start of the xp-AntiSpy, there will be a dynamic check of every setting if it is capable whitin the running operating systen. If it's not, the setting won't be displayed in the xp-AntiSpy.

Hallo, ich bin gestern mit dem ganzen CMS des xp-AntiSpy auf die Version 1.5 von Joomla umgestiegen. In diesem Zuge habe ich auch gleich mal das Webdesign etwas aufgefrischt, denn seit 2003 hatte sich dieses nicht geändert. Ich hoffe dass das neue Webdesign gefällt. Aufgrund der Probleme mit den Augescheinlich unseriösen Werbeanzeigen in Google-Adsense habe ich mich entschlossen, bis auf weiteres auf die Nutzung dieses Services zu verzichten. Auf meine Anfrage an Google-Adsense zu diesem Problem habe ich leider auch keine befriedigende Antwort erhalten, was mich letztendlich zu dieser Entscheidung veranlasste.
Zumindest hat meine eMail an sicher-downloaden dazu geführt, dass meine Software dort jetzt nicht mehr zum download angeboten wird. Aber im endeffekt wird meine Aktion nur der berühmte 'Tropfen auf den heissen Stein' sein, denn zwischenzeitlich hatte mich ein weiterer Besucher auf die Site mega-downloads aufmerksam gemacht. Dort wird auf die selbe Art und Weise versucht, den leuten Abos für den download kostenloser Software 'Unterzujubeln'.
Ich habe natürlich auch dieser Site verboten, meine Software zum Download anzubieten, erstaunlicherweise auch hier mit Erfolg.
Doch kann man davon ausgehen, dass noch unzählige solcher Angebote im Internet kursieren und ich ja nur das Bewerben und Anbieten meiner Software untersagen kann. Trotzdem würde ich mich weiterhin freuen, wenn ihr mich über ähnlich unseriöse Angebote im Zusammenhang mit dem xp-AntiSpy informiert. Ok, dass sollte es erstmal gewesen sein. Vielen Dank für das positive Feedback, was ich übers Gästebuch und per Mail bekomme. Das gibt mir die Motivation, das Projekt xp-AntiSpy weiterzuführen und nach neuen Features Ausschau zu halten.
